Celebrating Reading Week: March 21-25, 2022

Kids Hope Alliance and the Jacksonville Public Education Fund invite everyone to join us as we launch a community-wide literacy initiative aimed at improving the reading skills and literacy of young people in third grade. year. We designated March 21st– On the 25th as part of the “Celebrate Reading Week!” »


This exciting week will include a “Creative Writing Contest” and activities organized by the organization to “Celebrate the Magic of Reading”. To enter the creative writing contest, Duval students ages 6-18 are invited to submit their own written stories, poems, or any other form of creative writing to Kids Hope Alliance by March 18.and. Please see the attached flyers for more details on these two events.


On March 23, READ JAX, a collective of organizations united under the Duval Campaign for Reading in Schools, will be hosting our Kickoff Luncheon featuring author and literacy advocate, Ty Allan Jackson! Mayor Lenny Curry and Duval County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Diana Greene co-chair the campaign.


During the event, business partners and guests will hear from Ty and many other prominent Jacksonville leaders about the commitment and momentum it takes to drive results in reading to pave the way for opportunity. academic and professional among young people with only “20 minutes a day” of reading!

March 22n/a Ty Allan Jackson will visit several community sites, including the Boys & Girls Club Teen Center 313 E 10th St, Jacksonville, FL 32206 from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. and the Highlands Library 1826 Dunn Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32218 from 5:30 p.m. 7 a.m. :00pm for a literacy talk with students on his books Make Your Own Money and Supadupa Kid.
