Worcester Public Library seeks designs for library cards
WORCESTER, MA — A group of talented Worcester Public Library patrons will see their work displayed on library cards this winter. The library system holds a competition in September to solicit designs from the public during the National Library’s Pay-Per-View month.
Here’s more from a Worcester Public Library press release:
The Worcester Public Library (WPL) will be holding a library card design contest in honor of National Library Card Registration Month, during the month of September. There will be three winners, one from each age group, Youth (11 and under), Teen (12-17) and Adult (18 and over). Limited edition library cards featuring the best designs will be available winter 2022-23.
“In many ways, we believe your library card is your most valuable card, and so ours is worth redesigning,” said Kate Sawisch, Access Services Coordinator. “We can’t think of anyone better than this city’s vibrant arts community to help leave their mark on the library.
Entries must be received September 1 through September 30. Artwork may include computer-generated or digital photographic submissions or paper submissions using colored pencil, pen, paint, markers, etc.
Three finalists per category will be selected by a committee and announced on October 14. Public voting will begin then and end on October 31, winners will be announced after the votes have been compiled.
Customers can find additional details, rules and template for their design on the library websiteor pick up a registration form at any Worcester Public Library location.
WPL will be offering free replacement cards during the month of September. The library will also participate in United Way’s Day of Caring on September 16 as part of the National Library’s pay-per-view month celebrations.
