VICTORIA, Texas – The Victoria Public Library will hold its board meeting on Wednesday, December 15 at 5 p.m. in the Board Room, located at 107 West Juan Linn Street, to determine whether or not to remove all or part of the books in question that some residents have filed complaints against. There are 21 books to discuss, most of which focus on LGBTQ topics.

At the moment, these books cannot be picked up, however, the books can still be viewed in the library by asking at reception. The books in question are listed on the meeting agenda which you can find here.

Ashley Strevel of the Victoria Communications and Public Affairs Office tells us that the City Library Director is responsible for approving books held in the Victoria Public Library. The Library Advisory Board will decide at the meeting to remove all or part of these books or to uphold the Library Director’s original decision at residents’ requests. The library manager had refused all requests to remove these books from the library collection, and some residents are now appealing the decision to the board.
