Los Alamos High School teacher Suzanne Montoya has been appointed School Liaison Officer for the New Mexico Department of Public Education (NMPED). She was nominated by LAHS Principal Carter Payne.
As a Liaison Officer, Montoya will attend monthly webinars in the areas of interest of NMPED in order to be a source of information and assist other staff members with questions that may arise regarding the initiatives of the NMPED. the state. “I will also help keep teachers up to date with information, opportunities and resources that are shared through the NM Teacher Leader Network (NMTLN),” explained Montoya. I am the intermediary with the NMPED.
In a message to LAHS staff, Montoya said, “I am also responsible for being your voice in providing teacher feedback to NMPED. If you have any concerns about the guidelines or information coming from the state level, please bring them to me so that I can help share them with state staff. Through my role, I will have direct contact with the NMPED teacher liaison Mandi Torrez. I am delighted to have the opportunity to serve as a liaison and I am dedicated to helping create a strong line of communication between our school and NMPED.
