Pachinger named public education specialist Mentor Fire
The Mentor Fire Department has appointed firefighter/paramedic Rollin Pachinger as its new Public Education Specialist. Pachinger will succeed firefighter/paramedic Jerry Craddock who retired from the department in 2021.
Pachinger is a longtime resident and 2012 graduate of Mentor High School whose family has a heritage of public service in the city. His great-grandfather, grandfather, and great-uncle were members of the department, while his father and uncle worked in the public works department.
“Growing up around my grandfather who shared his love for this profession made me realize at a very young age that this was what I wanted to do,” says Pachinger.
Pachinger joined the Mentor Fire Department in 2013 as a part-time firefighter/paramedic. In 2015, he began his full-time career with Independence City, which he left in 2019 to work full-time for Mentor. He is currently part of the Mentor Technical Rescue team and is a young firefighter intervention specialist for the department. He received the Lake County Blue Coats Award in 2013 and a Life Saving Award in 2016.
“One of the most important parts of every firefighter’s job is to work to keep our community safe and partnering with our community to reduce damage improves the overall well-being of our community,” says the fire chief. mentor Bob Searles, “Rollin not only understands how vital this role is, he has a passion for caring for others and serving the community. Maybe that runs in his family.
The Public Education Division of the Mentor Fire Department assists the general public with training and safety information. In addition to providing first aid, CPR, AED, and fire extinguisher classes to individuals and businesses in the city, educators also visit schools with fire and injury prevention classes.
“My goal is to educate and provide as much help as possible to residents and businesses who call Mentor home,” says Pachinger.
