New Monklands Hospital: public consultation on project plans

NHS Lanarkshire has launched formal public consultation on its proposals for the new Monklands Hospital and will submit its planning application to North Lanarkshire Council later this year.
It will feature two interactive online events, while a video and a dedicated website have been shared showing details of the ‘visionary project’ at Wester Moffat.
Input from patients, staff and residents is now being sought on proposals – including the ‘village’ design concept for the new building and service layout; access, travel and parking arrangements; and innovative plans to make it a digital and net zero hospital.

The consultation is now live on www.keppiedesign.co.uk/mrp and runs until March 29 and will include interactive sessions where questions can be asked via online chat sessions on March 17 from 4-8 p.m. and March 19 from 12-4 p.m.
All feedback will be collated into a consultation report by senior consultants Currie & Brown and Keppie Design Project Architects’ planning experts, and form part of the application.
Health board officials say the vision for the new hospital incorporates a “forward-thinking model for clinical care, creating a modern facility where staff can thrive through technology and improving its welfare, as well as employment and training opportunities for the region and beyond”. .
Monklands Replacement Project (MRP) manager Graeme Reid said: “We intend to apply for planning permission from North Lanarkshire Council later this year.

“Undertaking this public consultation before the application is submitted provides a fantastic opportunity to hear the views of the public, including those who live close to the site, NHS Lanarkshire staff and health and social care partnerships, and any other community members who wish to comment on the submissions.
“Stakeholder feedback has been crucial to the project so far and we hope anyone with specific questions about our plans can join us at one of the online events for a live chat.”
Responses to the consultation can also be submitted by emailing [email protected], calling 01698 752320 or writing to Freepost RTEJ-HZLK-AETZ, Communications Department, NHS Lanarkshire, Kirklands, Fallside Road, Bothwell G71 8BB.
Printed versions of the online consultation documents are also available by contacting the Monklands Project team in the same way.
