Next month’s slate of activities at the North Fort Myers Public Library has topics for all ages. The following activities are free to the public:
Adult programs
Books and Bites Social Hour
11 a.m. Monday, May 2
Join us for an hour of books, fun and conversation. Everyone is welcome to stop by to discuss their favorite books. Get recommendations on everything from recent releases to forgotten classics. Refreshments will be offered.
I like children’s books: “Aristotle and Dante discover the secrets of the universe” by Benjamin Alire Saenz
2 p.m. Thursday, May 5
Ari Mendoza, 15, is an angry loner with a brother in prison, but when he meets Dante and they become friends, Ari starts asking questions about himself, his parents and his family that he doesn’t know. never asked before.

6:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 10
It’s time to settle the account. Come have fun and challenge your friends to a variety of board games, card games or video games.
Book talk: “Malibu Rising” by Taylor Jenkins Reid
2 p.m. Thursday, May 19
Against the backdrop of the Malibu surf culture of the 1980s, “Malibu Rising” follows the daughter of a famous singer who, once she achieves fame, must grapple with the fact that her father abandoned her and her siblings when they were young.
Karaoke night
5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 24
Whether you sound like Beyoncé or need singing lessons, karaoke is always fun. Join this karaoke program and have fun with your friends. Choose from our pre-selected list of themed titles or pick your own.

Family story time
10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 4
For children up to 5 years old and accompanying persons. Families with young children enjoy a variety of stories, songs, rhymes and movements.
Baby nursery rhyme time
11 a.m. Thursday, May 5
For babies up to 18 months. Babies and caregivers squirm and giggle in a supportive environment. Space is limited. First come, first served.
Tea Party and paper dolls
11 a.m. Saturday May 7
Children in grades K-5 and their caregivers are invited to join in this special tea party in honor of Mother’s Day. This delicious celebration will include tea and cookies and a paper doll craft. Dress to impress in your best tea party attire.
preschool play date
10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 11
For families with children from 3 to 5 years old. Meet new friends while developing early literacy skills through free play with games, toys and music.
Children read the fines
2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 14
6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17
Children and teens can get a $2 credit on overdue fines for every 15 minutes of reading in the designated area, for a total of $8 in a single session. Please bring your library card.
Palooza Parchment Paper
5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 17
Children from kindergarten to grade 5 are invited to join us for a parchment paper craft evening. We’ll provide you with everything you need to make your own parchment paper. Dress for the mess.
