Engineers and planners will be on hand this Wednesday evening at the Fossa Community Center as plans for new cycling and pedestrian facilities in Fossa intensify.
he public information session – scheduled between 5 and 7 pm – is part of the planning process for developments on the N72, developments which also include traffic calming measures on the site.
The proposed works – which will also take place in the townships of Dromin, Maulagh and Lackabane – include elevated two-way bicycle and pedestrian facilities on the north and south sides of the road.
An elevated facility for one-way cyclists and pedestrians will also connect the 60 kilometer per hour speed limit sign from the west of the road to the Fossa village bus stop.
Other works will include the removal of traffic calming measures on either side of the village and the provision of a zebra crossing outside Fossa National School. Upgrading works will take place at the ‘Gap Cross’ junction and street lighting will run the length of the scheme, as proposed by the local authority.
Plans will also be available for inspection or purchase at Killarney Town Hall and Tralee County Buildings, and on the Council’s website, www.kerrycoco.ie, until April 13.
Submissions and comments can be made at Kerry County Council until 4pm on May 5. These can be forwarded to the Council’s Department of Transport and Marine in Room 115 in the county buildings; or by e-mail to [email protected]
