Independent review of ABC’s complaints handling public consultation document

The CBA has released a public consultation document and details of the submission process for the independent review of the CBA’s editorial self-regulatory system and complaints handling.
The consultation paper was written by Professor John McMillan AO and Jim Carroll, the independent reviewers appointed by the CBA Board of Directors. It includes terms of reference for the process and full details of the framework within which they are conducting the review.
The review began in October 2021. The reviewers have already held initial consultations with current and former ABC staff, members of the ABC board of directors and external observers in Australia and abroad.
The consultation document is being released to invite the public to comment and submit on the issues under consideration. Consultations will continue throughout this process.
This review accepts written submissions on any of the terms of reference or key questions as set out in the consultation document.
Submissions from any member of the public or organization can be emailed to: [email protected]
The consultation period for submissions ends on Friday, December 17, 2021. Submissions may be made public unless marked confidential or otherwise requested.
The findings of this review will be released after ABC’s board receives the report at the end of March 2022.
