Hamilton Public Library’s summer reading program in full swing
Now that school is out, keep loving storytelling and traveling to new worlds with the Hamilton Public Library and TD Summer Reading Club.
“We’re back to in-person programming, which is fantastic because for the past two years we haven’t been able to do that,” said Shelley McKay, HPL communications manager.
Summer readers can visit any Hamilton public library to pick up their kit, which includes a web access sticker to sign up for the TD Book Club website where young readers can track their progress.
The program gives children and teenagers the chance to develop their love of writing. It also offers different activities and encourages young people to try something new.
At the Hamilton Public Library, a wide range of events will take place over the summer. They include story time, guest speakers and tours, activities and more. There is also a book list curated by the staff for young readers.
“Whether you’re from zero to a teenager, we’ve got something for you,” McKay said.
Since there’s been an influx of ‘quarantines’ into the reading age, there’s plenty to keep babies and toddlers entertained, from music and art programming to reading books. of stories.
“There are great programs – walk-in programs, taped programs and of course while you’re at the branch there are lots of great books and music to take home afterwards,” said she declared.
For those who cannot spend time in the branch but still want to participate, there are take-out bags that can be ordered online after completing an application indicating the child’s interests.
As for experience and activities, there are plenty of options to choose from across the system’s 23 branches.
“There could be something fun in Binbrook one day and something fun in Carlisle the next.”
