Get into the spirit of Halloween at the Liverpool Public Library – Eagle News Online
LIVERPOOL – The Halloween spirit starts early at the Liverpool Public Library.
Families can hop in a car and ride the thrilling Tulip Street Loop from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 24 for Haunted Garage II.
With the support of businesses and community organizations, LPL’s underground garage will turn into a spooky vacation tour.
You never know which of your favorite book characters might appear on your ride! Keep your eyes wide open, drive slowly through the garage exhibits, and get a head start on Halloween.
Free entry. Donations of canned food will be accepted during the event.
Sponsors include LPL Homeschool Families, Ballantyne Gardens, Help Me Grow Onondaga, Studio B Dance Co., Rooftop Realty, Liverpool Community Gardeners, Liverpool Central School District Librarians and Greater Liverpool Chamber of Commerce.
Those who enjoy hearing a good Halloween tale can tune into Halloween Stories with Mary Rys at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 23. Seating for the event in person in the Carman Community Hall to hear the cunning ways of storytelling from the popular former Liverpool Central School District educator filled up quickly. There is a waiting list available for registration on the calendar page of our website, and all available places will be allocated from this list.
Rys has a sense of words that goes far beyond his voice. When she chaired a five-day LPL storytelling camp this summer as part of Let’s Read, Liverpool! program, the participating students paid great attention to how she used her body to also emphasize every passage and every emotion.
We’ll also be featuring Rys’ storytelling event on our YouTube channel, with her spooky stories available on your screen. Find the event broadcast live and on video later on youtube.com/channel/UCL_hHqJdHFdtKwOUBIRTGig.
