BOSTON, June 8, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Saga Education, the national nonprofit organization behind one of the nation’s most successful one-to-one tutoring programs, today announced four new partnerships with Chicago Public Schools, New Mexico Public Education Department, Rhode Island Department of Education, and Maryland State Department of Education to provide guidance and technical assistance to develop and implement high-impact tutoring programs.

Drawing on Saga’s experience delivering more than two million hours of high-impact tutoring, the Saga team works with states and districts on program design, recruitment and training of tutors, designing programs and implementing ongoing assessments to measure student progress. Through these new partnerships, not only will Saga’s tutoring programs be made available to students, but Saga will provide resources and capacity building to help districts implement effective tutoring programs.

Additionally, Saga will partner with the Oklahoma State Department of Education and Education North Carolina Guilford County Schools will offer tutor training through Saga Connect and Saga trainer.

The need to find ways to help children recover academically from the COVID-19 pandemic has school districts turning to high-impact tutoring to ensure students are supported additional. Saga Education partners with schools across the country to leverage tutoring relationships and help students unlock their potential.

Since 2013, the University of Chicago Education Lab studied Saga Education’s Intensive Mathematics Tutoring Model in Chicago public schools and New York City, finding that it significantly improves the academic results of high school students. In two randomized controlled trials, students who were tutored by Saga learned up to two and a half extra years of math in one school year, equivalent to closing up to 50% of the gap between black and white tests in a school year. Randomized controlled trials also found that Saga’s tutoring model reduced math class failure rates by 60%.
