Check out Rochester Public Library Chromebooks: Not Available Until 2022
The Rochester Public Library announced Thursday that it will offer “long-term borrowing of Internet-enabled Chromebooks.”
With a grant of $ 619,000, library director Audrey Betcher said the library has purchased a total of 1,000 Chromebooks with built-in Internet access. “These devices provide crucial Internet service to families and individuals who need to connect to online educational resources.”
How long is the long term? The checkouts will last until June 30, 2022. This is part of a Federal Communications Commission program to try to bridge the digital divide.
What are the requirements?
- Lack of sufficient internet access
- Need a connected device primarily to meet educational needs
- Are not currently receiving internet service through any other state or federal program
You must bring photo ID and proof of address if you do not already have one.
