AVON LAKE, Ohio – During the pandemic, many social and emotional issues arose within families and in schools. It’s not yet clear how long the effects of these issues will last, but the Avon Lake Public Library (ALPL) has an interesting product that, perhaps, will help at least put things in perspective.
The library announced that it has a unique aid in the form of specially created kits for children aged 3 to 10. Shea Alltmont, Library Communications Director, added, “ALPL is delighted to offer our new Social and Emotional Learning Kits. “
Kits include picture books, games and activities for kids, as well as resource information for parents. Kits can be removed from the library.
The subjects are vast and impressive. It is easy to see how they could help children recover from the stress and challenges of the pandemic and whatever longer term problems that may arise for children and their families or for teachers who see a need in them. class.
The 23 topics include information on grief, loneliness, mindfulness, patience, gratitude, anxiety, illness, helpfulness, bullying, diversity, anger, emotions, empathy, good manners, divorce, perseverance, kindness, cancer, self esteem, sharing and cooperation, decision making, financial difficulties and how special every child is.
