Australia: Evan Blake speaks at the Committee for Public Education’s online meeting
The Committee for Public Education (CFPE) hosted a successful online meeting on Saturday 11 December, which was attended by educators, parents and students from across Australia and around the world, including New Zealand, Philippines and United States. The meeting was titled “COVID -19 Spreads in Australian Schools: Put Life Before Profit!” Stop the pandemic!”
This is the second online CFPE meeting in the past month held against the dangerous reopening of schools which has led to a surge in COVID-19 infections and clusters in schools in Victoria and New Wales. South.
The meeting was addressed by Evan Blake, a member of the Socialist Equality Party of the United States and a leading writer for the World Socialist website. Blake presented a comprehensive report outlining the spread of the Omicron variant internationally, the new dangers it poses to the working class, and the significance of the Global Workers inquiry initiated by the World Socialist Web Site.
We publish Blake’s video report, including the Q&A session that followed.
During the meeting, two resolutions were adopted. The former endorsed the Global Workers Inquest and the latter opposed legal threats against British mother Lisa Diaz who refused to send her children to school as COVID spreads.
A full report of the meeting will follow in the coming days.
