American Public Education, Inc. Completes Acquisition of Graduate School USA
The acquisition provides entry into the workforce vocational training market
CITY OF CHARLES, W.Va., January 3, 2022 / PRNewswire / – American Public Education, Inc. (NASDAQ: APEI) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of substantially all of the assets of The Graduate School United States (“GSUSA”), in force January 1, 2022. GSUSA is a leading training provider for the federal workforce with a broad portfolio of government agency clients. The acquisition reinforces APEI’s focus on training and credentials that help open pathways to employment and career advancement.
Washington DCGSUSA’s mission is closely aligned with APEI’s emphasis on “service education” and represents a strong complement to the military and veteran student populations of the American Public University System (APUS), as well as to nursing and healthcare student populations at Rasmussen University and Hondros College nursing.

The assets acquired from GSUSA – which provides its training both in person and through virtual learning – will function as a new stand-alone unit of APEI and continue under the name GSUSA.
GSUSA serves the federal workforce through personalized contract training (B2G) to federal agencies and open enrollment (B2C) to government professionals. Its clients include more than 100 government agencies such as the Ministry of Defense and several of its branches; the Ministry of Internal Security; Ministry of Health and Social Services ; Ministry of the Interior; Department of Justice; and the State Department.
GSUSA’s training catalog includes over 300 courses focused on continuing federal professional development and leadership training to improve the performance of government agencies through the skills and career advancement of their employees. GSUSA has trained tens of thousands of government employees in practice areas such as federal human resource management, leadership, federal financial management, communication and professional skills, and procurement and contracting. through its short training courses.
